The Lantern Theatre
Lantern Theatre
The oldest and most traditional of the Sheffield Theatres, the Lantern still glows over Sheffield after a staggering 122 years of theatrical productions. Seating an intimate 84 people, it is renowned for its incredibly warm and slightly19th century atmosphere.
Owned by the Dilys Guite Players, an in house community group, the Lantern is passionate about high varied theatre. And with the DGP producing at least four shows a year themselves, they spread the focus over both local and national talent equally. Opportunities to get involved theatrically come around often, with auditions taking place for the in house productions all year round.
The Lantern is also home to the annual New Writing Festival. A festival that offers writers a chance to get their own play produced.
